<P><FONT COLOR="#000000">Actually, we treat our volunteers very well.</p>
<p>Volunteer</font> <font color="#FF0033">BARE-2-B</font>
<font color="blue">Boosters</font> <FONT COLOR="#000000">are always needed.
Particularly volunteers who can be available both Saturday evening (before the race - 8 P.M. to 1 A.M.)
and early race day morning (5:00 - 7 A.M.) to assist with the preparation and check-in
of our <font color="#FF0033">BARE-2-B</font> participants at our tribal Gathering.</p>
<p><FONT COLOR="#000000">Although the Boosters are active year round, critical volunteer
help is needed immediately before the event.</p>
<p><FONT COLOR="#000000">If you have a particular talent you wish to volunteer, please e-mail us.</p>
<!-- Particularly volunteer drivers who will not be participating in the run themselves but who
can be on standby along the race course to assist any of our <font color="#FF0033">BARE-2-B</font>
participants should a need arise.</p>
<p>Due to our numbers, we sometimes have a participant or two who are unable to complete the event
due to muscle cramps, blisters, sprangs, a twisted ankle, unfitness or some other ailment.</p>
<p>We like to have assistance available along the race course. This is particulary helpful as
many of our participants are from outside of the San Francisco area and are "lost" within the city.</p>
<p>Volunteer drivers need to be dependable, licensed, with a dependable licensed vehicle and have a cell phone
for communications. A driver will be asked to park his/her vehicle near a race course intersection
or landmark and simply go to the race course and watch the parade.</font> Couples working as a team
are preferred.</p>
<p><FONT COLOR="#000000">We provide an emergency telephone number to our participants at our "Gathering"
sign-in. A <font color="#FF0033">BARE-2-B</font> hat wearing participant needing assistance during
the event can have a volunteer(s) (if available) directed to the runner's location.</p>
<p>This courtesy service is aimed to only those participants wearing a <font color="#FF0033">BARE-2-B</font> hat.
This is because wearing a <font color="#FF0033">BARE-2-B</font> hat is a courtesy to the other
<font color="#FF0033">BARE-2-B</font>'ers including our great volunteer drivers who may be attempting to
locate a disabled <font color="#FF0033">BARE-2-B</font> participant.</p>
<p>Without the hat, locating a particular runner within the Breakers mob is near impossible (and stressful);
and as we may have multiple "drop-outs" during a race, we do not want our generous volunteers to be losing
their valuable time trying to find a non-hat wearing runner (who is impossible to find) when other hat wearing
participants may also need assistance.</p>
<p>Volunteer drivers will assist a disabled participant as the volunteer deems reasonable.
This usually only means providing transportation to a nearby city bus or tolley line which leads back
to the starting area. To avoid abuse of the "support" service, volunteers will not leave the
vicinity of their assignment to return "drop-outs" to the starting area (their lodging, the airport, etc.)
during the event. City streets are so congested during the race (as the race course cuts the city in half)
that providing such transportation to the start would take the volunteer out-of-service for hours.</p>
