While runners stop to listen to a music performance by the
"Village People," a couple doors down in the 700 block of Hayes Street,
two water bozos soak participants on a cool morning.

California Penal Code 242.  A battery
is any willful and unlawful use of force
or violence upon the person of another.

is punishable by a fine not exceeding
two thousand dollars ($2,000), or by
imprisonment in a county jail not ex-
ceeding six months, or by both that
fine and imprisonment.

is an unlawful attempt, coupled with a
present ability, to commit a violent in-
jury on the person of another.

is punishable by a fine not exceeding
one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by

ceeding six months, or by both the fine
and imprisonment.

person who willfully and maliciously
obstructs the free movement of any
person on any street, sidewalk, or
other public place or on or in any
place open to the public is guilty of
a misdemeanor.
